Meetings are rarely inspiring, but the Chapel Hill Bike Plan Meeting that took place two Thursdays ago was a notable exception.  The two headlining presentations by visiting professor John Pucher and lead bike plan consultant Bill Schultheiss painted a very encouraging picture: bike-friendly cities like Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Portland were transformed by conscious decisions and actions, not by accident, and Chapel Hill’s transformation into a cyclists’ paradise is imminent.

To gain a better understanding of the street level perspective of cyclists in Chapel Hill, a Wikimap has been created that allows registered users to share their experiences, solutions, opinions, and shortcuts on an interactive map that will be used as a reference for structuring the plan that will be presented to the Town Council early next year.
