There and Back Again: A Cyclist’s Tale

December 12, 2012

This Friday, when The Hobbit premieres, the cyclist’s path to the theaters of Chapel Hill will be fraught with dangers, four-wheeled and motorized…

…unless a safer path is revealed.

Lo!  A sign of hope!

There is a magic gate in Laurel Woods that leads South to a Village, and there lies The Lumina Theatre.

Head south on Merritt Mill, then turn left on Edwards St.

Aha!  So this is what it looks like in the daytime!

Easy going down.  Probably a real grind coming back up.

    Thanks for the “trip ticket”.

Nice that picture 5 (of the gate) shows the big red “no trespassing” sign. The gate had a lock until recently, and they may put it back if too many people start using it as a shortcut again.

(I live here and bike up the hill every day. It’s not too bad once you get used to it.)
