Life Saving Fun

October 10, 2012

It shouldn’t be a surprising declaration for a bike shop owner, but I love bikes.  I love their little shiny bits and all the sounds they make when they’re running well, but most of all I love how fun they are to ride!  They’re so much fun, in fact, one can be healthy almost entirely by accident.

Ernest Gagnon’s choice to start cycling as a way to shed some of his life-threatening girth was no accident, but it’s the fun, not the guilt or fear, that has kept him riding long after trips to the gym would’ve become boring.  While he may not be smiling in the picture above, that’s because he’s participating in the notoriously torturous, but still very fun, discipline of cyclocross; trust me, he’ll be smiling when it’s over.
