Twin Shadow

September 11, 2012

As a child of the 80’s, the sounds of synthesizers and drum machines are ingrained in my psyche.  Historically, the upbeat danceability of Synthpop has had me reaching for the “skip” button, but there’s something strangely hypnotic about the new generation of squarepushing musicians: Future Islands, Cold Cave, and now, Twin Shadow.

Mixing an (un)healthy dose of anger or depression into music always catches my ear, especially when those emotions are out of context.  Twin Shadow falls right in line with greats like The Smiths, The Cure, and Joy Division, but without sounding like a total throwback.

Their newest album, Confess, is getting lots of good press, but their debut, Forget, is still in much heavier rotation at this bike shop.
