Cool Tool

February 2, 2012

I have used a surprising number of mini chain tools that have failed catastrophically during their very first use. Since most mini tools get their first use on the side of the road or trail, it’s a particularly bad time to discover that you bought a tool shaped piece of shit.

Historically, the Park Mini Chain Brute has been the only tiny chain tool I trusted, but its awkward shape made it less than ideal for packing.

At last, Park has improved on the design with their new folding chain tool. All of the reliability of the Mini Chain Brute, but in a much more compact package. It is one of the coolest travel sized tools I’ve used.

Having used both (and others), this and the Topeak Alien (heavier, more on it, more money) are both good
