Wheel Building Classes

January 31, 2012

Heads up!  There are only two spots left in this winter’s wheel building class:
The ReCYCLEry and Back Alley Bikes are presenting a Wheel Building class for advanced home mechanics.
 —
The class will be held over the course of two weeks, with two classes per week on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 8 to 10pm starting Feb 28th.
All participants should be familiar with the broad concepts of wheel truing and have some hands-on experience truing wheels.

For this class, new rims and spokes will be required.  New hubs are recommended, but not required.  At the conclusion of the class, all participants will have built a new, usable wheel that is theirs to keep.

Participants who order parts through Back Alley Bikes will receive a 30% discount and should budget approximately $100 if purchasing all new parts of medium quality.

It’s also recommended that participants get a copy of The Art of Wheelbuilding.  Class participants can purchase a copy through Back Alley Bikes for $18 (normally $30).
Tuition for this class is $160 per person.  As with all classes, this tuition will help the ReCYCLEry to achieve our mission and goals for 2012.
