I Call Bullshit

Advertising is designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator, and I know I shouldn’t overanalyze it, but sometimes I just can’t help myself.  This General Motors ad has been making the rounds on Facebook and there are just too many glaring falacies for me to leave it alone.

The connection that GM is trying to imply is that this guy would be sexier if he were in a car.

This is highly unlikely considering the fact that if he were in a car, he would almost certainly be 30 lbs. heavier and he’d probably be at work trying to earn the extra 25% of his annual income that he would need to pay for the car.  Not so sexy.

Furthermore, should our overweight, overworked, car-driving protagonist find himself attempting to consummate his desires with a potential mate, the likelihood of having his plans thwarted by erectile dysfunction are much greater due to his failing cardiovascular health.
