The Hopscotch Music Festival began last night and continues through tonight and tomorrow night with an impressive line up of local, regional, and national bands.  The range of genres covered is impressive and the venues are well organized to encourage cross pollination.

The show that I’m most looking forward to is tomorrow night’s Berkley Cafe show with Chapel Hill’s own art rock freakout band, In the Year of the Pig, opening up for three of the region’s best metal bands: Weedeater (stoner metal, of course), Kylesa (double drummer driven art metal), and US Christmas (seven piece psychedelic metal).
