Everything should be anodized.

August 16, 2010

Paul Components is a small, California-based machine shop that makes high quality, small run bicycle components.  These days, they’re known for their hubs, brakes, and accessories.  But there was a time, before Shimano’s XTR group, that they were known primarily as manufacturers of high end mountain bike derailleurs.

Last week, I traded a front derailleur to a regular customer for this anodized gem that was found at a yard sale.  Even in comparison with the carbon wonderbits of today, this derailleur is impressively light and springy.  Best of all, it matches the blue anodized cantilever brakes on my touring bike.
