Midlake’s newest album, The Courage of Others, has been on daily rotation at the bike shop for the last several weeks.  It’s not a matter of if it’ll be played, but when.  While their previous album was a critically acclaimed collection of songs, their latest is much more of a unified work.

There’s nothing ground-breaking about The Courage of Others except how surprisingly engrossing it is as an album.  It’s how I imagine a band of elves, dwarves, and hobbits would sound: earthy, sincere, and melancholy, with a hint of optimism.  This might be the perfect headphone album for late winter walks.

Listen or Buy.

Go see them on April 3rd.
